Public beta now available

Here we go... again. Our 6th platform is now available to the public. Today, we're starting the public beta of tinydub, our approach of a slim ticketing system.

Why we built it

Over the years, we've used a handful of support solutions that are out there. To be honest, most of them were bloated with features we didn't need or even want. Those features bulk up the interface, making it hard to navigate the platform and find relevant information. And of course, all those unnecessary features come at a price. In addition, none of the available solutions was a good fit for us because we needed to distinguish our platforms from one another, and that would often mean either creating separate accounts or starting additional subscriptions.

With all our products, we try to focus on one topic per platform. This allows us to keep the codebase maintainable for a small team, which we still are. From what we've learned from our other products, many customers prefer the simple approach over the "we-do-it-all" alternatives. In Germany, there's even a word for many of these products: "Eierlegende Wollmilchsau."

This colorful expression describes something that is supposed to be perfect and do everything - essentially an impossible "jack-of-all-trades" solution that can fulfill every conceivable need. It's used to describe:

  • Unrealistic expectations: When someone wants a single solution to solve all problems

  • Over-engineered products: Items marketed as being able to do everything

  • Impossible requirements: When specifications demand contradictory or unrealistic features

We know that other people are frustrated with existing solutions as well, and everyone has their own reason as to why. Maybe those people will take a liking to tinydub. So yeah, what initially started as an internal product has now become our 6th publicly available SaaS.

It's by far not finished

The current state of tinydub can be considered an MVP, maybe even a step further. There are still a lot of things we have on our to-do list to have the product we initially envisioned. Over the next weeks and months, we will continue to develop tinydub and we hope to get some feedback from our early customers to help guide the direction. The public beta is currently available with the "Starter" (free) and "Pro" plan. The "Advanced" plan will be available later this year.

Things may be buggy

Since this is a public beta, the most obvious bugs have been fixed. But there are likely quite a few other things that don't fully work as expected. The private beta was done with four trusted partners, and we also used tinydub for all our products during that time.

But we definitely missed a few things, which will come to light when more people use it. So we're eager to start this public beta period.

Let's go!

Here's to a new chapter, a new product and new opportunities. If you have feedback during the beta period, you can use the dedicated form we've linked to from within the dashboard. We can't wait to receive your feedback and suggestions.
